The only thing that we can do when someone we really care about is so far gone into their addiction and does not want the help offered is to detach with love..meaning still love that person just don't let them have so much space in your head..they need to find help when and if they ever get ready or when they are tired enough..It's a good thing to care about others, sometimes thats all it takes. I thank God for all the struggles I have been through, because they make me who I am today. I also am grateful for my family for loving me but also not putting up with my crap. I finally got tired enough of running away from myself that I got the help that I needed. I honestly hope that others get to experience the things I have in sobriety. The main thing I am grateful for is the chance to be a mother to my children today.
I sincerely hope that you find your friend because she is lost..
I only know this because I, too, was lost to crystal meth & heroin for over 12 years. Those years are gone. & I know that I will never get them back.. But, what I have gotten back is: my family, my friends, peace of mind & many more years of my life to live now that I am free from the drugs that bound me for so long. I have been clean since August 9, 2005.
Please don't give up hope w/your friend. The suggestion that "majorbottom" made in the above comment (about sending her a link to your video) is a really good one. I truly believe that she just needs to know that she is loved..
I was really touched to hear your story. Watching your video was like seeing the other side of my story.
I used to be a successful Financial Advisor and started using meth in the early 90's. I held on to my job until 2000. For some reason, meth makes a user's world get very small. I had lost my job, but isolated myself from my family and friends just like your friend is doing. I found myself very alone.
I have been off meth since Dec 2oth 2007.
Much to my great relief my friends are happy to hear from me and I'm re-establishing my friendships. In some cases we picked up our friendship right where we left off. My family is greatly relieved I'm turning things around.
I hope your friend gets help. Perhaps you can send her the link to your video so she can see that you were not attacking her, but trying to help her. You can't make someone quit. She'll quit when the consequences become severe enough. For me, my self-imposed exile from everyone became unmanageable and too much to bear.
Q. How do you know you've hit bottom?
A. When you stop digging
Good, four months. Dont give up. Its been three years for me. You have to remember all those years you didnt exist. Your alive now. It only gets better. I lost a multi million dollar bussiness, house, cars, family, and at the end almost my life. Oh ya also a music career. But with all that im still here moving foward, never to return to that life. I probably never will be were i was, but at least now I have my family and life back. Always realize your a user and never put yourself close to that world.Good luck and dont ever give up the fight.
