The very first meth addicts go back to the 1890s. Methamphetamine was created during that period in Japan. From there, it was during World War II that methamphetamine began to be distributed to the German military. Most of the original meth addicts were believed to have used the drug for its medical purposes. Since then, meth addiction began to erupt as a quiet phenomenon, until it exploded. In the 1950s, Japan had outlawed the drug, because the number of meth addicts indicated that it was used more than just for medicinal purposes. It was deciphered that there were many meth addicts that had been using the drug for recreational use. From there, meth addicts began to abundantly subside by the 19780s. In the present tense, meth addicts are more present than ever. Meth addicts have become so abundant that the Combat Methamphetamine Epidemic Act was initiated in the year of 2005. To cut down on the meth addiction, the approach was to attack the making of the drug. The Combat Methamphetamine Epidemic Act decreased the amount of pseudoephedrine and ephedrine that one can buy in order to cut down on the production of the drug.

Meth addicts have an addiction that does a great deal of damage to the body. A meth addict has associated symptoms that are quite damaging to the brain. As a meth addict, many of the brain functions are lost or on the verge of being as such. A meth addict will be impaired with his or her ability to think, a meth addict will have memory damage, and a meth addict will experience the incapacity to completely cope with and oversee hie or her emotions. Meth addicts experience a high that lasts much longer than most drugs, so that is more potential for a meth addict to not be able to function in the proper manner for extended periods of time, up to twenty four hours. Therefore, a meth addict suffers from immediate brain damage, as well as the results of the brain damage that has occurred over not much time at all.

A meth addict will also have an appearance that reflects his or her addiction. One of the common attacks on meth addicts’ physical appearance is the rotten teeth. There is also the sunken in face that many meth addicts develop. A meth addict will suffer from intense dry skin, as the addiction is known to affect the body in this way, as well. Severe weight loss, a tremendous lack of energy, and constant sweating are also some of the symptoms that a meth addict will have to deal with, as well.

Drug abuse can be defined as when a person repeatedly uses a mood altering substance in order to support their addiction to the drug. People abuse drugs One of the key distinctions that fits the characterization of that are of illegal consumption, or are sold in prescription medical form.drug abuse is the fact that the substance is not being used for its intended purpose. Another distinction to make about although many drugs may have mood altering effects, they are not always taken for that purpose. For instance, there are some drugs, such as steroids, that are not taken specifically to alter a mood or disposition. People will usually abuse drugs such as this when they would like to achieve a certain body type, and/or they would like to have a more competitive stance over others.

Drug abuse, by definition has evolved over the years to many. This is because some believe that those that abuse drugs have to abuse drugs that are seen as illegal, or a harmful drug in their eyes. In the past, there are some that were known to abuse drugs, but it was not considered as such because they believed that drug abuse could not occur in those that were using the substance for medicinal purposes. For example, the earliest instances of those that would abuse drugs for medicinal purposes were those that were addicted to methamphetamine for their medical conditions. Another example of those that are deemed to be guilty of drug abuse, but are of a group that has a high percentage of its members that do not believe that they abuse drugs are those that smoke marijuana. They take on the point of view that they do not have a drug abuse issue because they do not believe that marijuana is an addictive drug, or that it is a dangerous substance. Nonetheless, whether a person that smokes marijuana feels that they abuse drugs or not, there are harmful effects that are associated with the drug, such as trouble with learning and memory, hallucinations, problems with perception, increased heart rate, disorientation, and lung infections.

Alcohol is also a major contender for drug abuse. There are some that will attest to the point that they do not abuse drugs wholeheartedly, even if they abuse alcohol. To some, it is believed in order to be deemed as a person that tends to abuse drugs, the drug can not be in a liquid form. They certainly do not believe that drug abuse is related to a substance that is sold over the counter in liquor stores. This type of drug abuse can give off just as many harmful effects as any other drug there is. Alcoholism is known for having dangerous characteristics that exude intense cravings for the substance, loss of control, including a high chance for participating in violent acts or feeling extreme depression.
